Special Guest Designer Emily Hammann!

Today we would like to welcome Special Guest Designer Emily Hammann!

I’m a mixed media artist living in St. Louis, MO with my fiance, two children, two cats and bird. I started creating in 2008 with layouts after receiving a scrapbook for my birthday. Once I began making layouts, I never looked back. I moved on to tags, cards, altered items and finally mixed media. I prefer mixed media now, and am at my happiest when my hands are covered in paints and inks. I’m fortunate to have an extremely understanding fiance’ when it comes to my work. When I am not in my art studio or teaching at a LSS, I am with my family going for hikes, walks, or visiting local hot spots where I can always find inspiration. If not I will be curled up with a good book or watching one of my favorite shows. Currently I am on the Genuinely Jane Studios and Creative Inspirations Paint Design Teams. You can find me on my blog at www.emilyhammann.com.

Hi! Emily Hammann here today with my Guest Designer post for October using the fantastic "Autumn is in the Air" October Challenge from Marivic along with my Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate and some Speedball Block Printing Ink.

Using the Gelli Plate is fun on paper, but using it, along with the Block Printing Ink on other surfaces can be just as fun. You can see how Marivic used them on fabric pages HERE,  and they turned out gorgeous! I used a wood album by Genuinely Jane Studios and created my monoprint directly onto the album pages after first priming the surface with gesso.

All of my pages are a mixture of first pulls from various paint combos and stencils. I did several layers on each of them with the exception of the second set of pages below.

This is a combo of two different first pulls. I used the same three Speedball Block Printing Inks on all of my pages. I did add some acrylic ink to tone down some of the colors on a couple pages. This gave me more of the fall hues I wanted similar to the inspiration board on the pages.

The combo of the Gel Printing Plate, Block Printing Inks and wood surface created a fantastic look that I will be creating over and over again.

I also created this short slideshow of some of the steps I used with the Speedball Block Printing Inks and Gel Printing Plate on the wood album (this is not the same album I used, but another). Have a great day!

We'd love to see how this mood board inspires you! Link up your projects by the end of the month for your chance to win one of two fantastic prize packages!
